Vendor Criteria
Non-Profit or Community Event Vendor Guidelines
The MVGHF mission is to promote local agriculture and celebrate our agricultural heritage. With this in mind, the festival allows non-profit groups participation if the fundraising event is in keeping with the vein of the festival. The festival committee does not allow solicitation or advertising during the festival other than previously agreed upon signage designating the fundraising booth’s source. No additional printed material is to be handed out. Our supportive attendees come to MVGHF every year to be entertained, not to be solicited or recruited.
Food Vendor Guidelines
The festival committee looks for original, garlic and herb themed food vendors. All applicable Herkimer County Health Department permits must be clearly posted at your booth. Electricity is only available on a small scale, so please check with the committee in plenty of time before the festival.
Food Product Vendor Guidelines
The food products must be handmade by you or origin clearly explained on your application. The festival does allow products that are packaged or bottled elsewhere from your original recipes. All baked goods or other food products need to be prepared in an inspected kitchen and vendors need to supply proof if asked. Electricity is only available on a small scale, so please check with the committee in plenty of time before the festival.
Artisan Vendor Guidelines
80% of your products must be handmade by you. The committee looks for quality, “from the earth” selections. The garlic, herb and agricultural themes are esteemed highly by the jury panel.
Garlic and Herb Vendor Guidelines
We do not require naturally or organically grown produce, but encourage vendors to specify at their booths. Produce and plants must be grown by you or origin clearly explained in your application. Any applicable licensing needs to be shown if asked. All baked goods or other food products need to be prepared in an inspected kitchen and vendors need to supply proof if asked.
We encourage all vendors to make the effort to make the booths look like they are involved in an Autumnal, agricultural festival. All NYS Sales Tax IDs and Health Department permits need to be clearly posted during the festival. As a city sponsored event, the festival committee reserves the right to ask a vendor to remove questionable material or products at any time if they feel it does not reflect the overall mission of the festival. Business cards and brochures are strongly encouraged for festival goers to connect with vendors throughout the year. Any other solicitation must be approved by the committee in advance of the festival. All vendors are subject to approval by a juried committee.
